A little LOST

Haha, I beat Tricia to it!

This week, one of our favorite shows, Lost, returned after a very long hiatus! The premiere of the penultimate season was certainly a great one! Not only did we get the regular recap episode leading into the premiere, but it was also followed up by episode two! As always, we had some questions answered, and well as many more questions! The episodes featured more frozen donkey wheels, Ethan Rom, flamin' Frogurt, a love of shih tzus, a dead pakistani, and flying hot pockets! What more could you want... ok... maybe Tricia wanted a shirtless Saywer, and she got that too!! It was fun to see some dead characters return, (and by some, I mean not Ana Lucia ;)) I enjoyed seeing every regular character, and can't wait for the rest of the season! I enjoyed the time jumps on the island in episode one, it was fun to try to guess when they were. The shocking reveal of the Ring Lady with Ben at the end opened up a lot of questions to keep us guessing until next week! What is she doing with Ben, will they get everybody to the island in 70 hours, what's with the pedulam?

If you love Lost, I have to recommend the Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack, they always have lots of tidbits of information you may have not picked up upon first viewing, and they are a lot of fun to listen to!! You can find their information at http://www.jayandjack.com/

The Unborn

Hi Everyone,

I just got back from seeing The Unborn and I loved it! The movie is about the haunting of a young woman by a spirit that is trying to take possession of her. It stars Odette Yustan as the beseiged twenty-something and Gary Oldman as the Rabbi who comes to her rescue. I enjoyed the fact that this movie actually had a storyline that I could follow and, unlike The Ring, it explains the origins of the spirit in a way that makes sense. True, some will probably say that it is similar to The Exorcist and it does have some superficial similarities, but overall I feel that it holds its own. I highly reccommend it, so go out and see it right now!

The Biggest Loser: Couples

Last night was the first episode of the newest season of The Biggest Loser: Couples. The opening pre-cap was great! So much so, I am eager to show it to Miss Anti-Reality Tricia, and see if she still doesn't want to watch the show. It opened up with Bob and Jillian, the trainers. talking through the TV, telling America to get off the couch and do something about the obesity in America. They spoke to the camera's like they speak to the contestants during a workout. I really enjoyed it, I love Bob and Jillian, though!

This season includes the biggest (and second biggest) woman ever, and the biggest person ever, who is only 19 years old. TBL is one of my favorite reality shows, and I am so looking forward to watching these people transform and better their lives.

My only gripe was what they did after the weigh in, the bottom 9 teams, had to send one of the their team mates home. After 30 day, if their team mate remains in the game, they can rejoin the game.

If you have a chance to watch the episode... DO IT! It was a great episode, lots of exciting things happened. As much as I love the American Biggest Loser... The Austrailian Version is so much better! So if you love TBL, find the Austrailian version online, starting Feb 1st!

I Love Dr. Horrible!!

Ok, so I was supposed to write my first review about the movie Seven Pounds but I can't seem to stop myself from writing about Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. It is soo good! I just finished watching it for the fifth time and it is still as funny and entertaining as it was the first time I watched it. Thank you again Manda, for not only making me watch it the first time but for buying it for me for Christmas....but you still suck :) Well, since this is a review, I suppose I should talk more about the movie. It was a project created by Joss Whedon and put together during the infamous writer's strike. It was originally available for free on the web but has since been taken down and then distributed through ITunes and now onto DVD. The movie is, essentially, about the events that mold Billy/Dr. Horrible into the creepy villain that he becomes and...dum..dum..dum..It's a musical! The film stars Neil Patrick Harris as Billy, Felicia Day as his crush Penny, and Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer, the cheesy hero who comes between them. I can not recommend this film enough, so if you haven't seen it yet, watch it and if you have..well, watch it again!

Making 'Reality' Real

First to review!!

Ok, so a little unfair, Tricia still doesn't know about the blog yet... I only started it about five minutes ago. This week is the week of Christmas, so not a lot of new shows to talk about, but last night there were new episodes on TLC.

Namely 'Little People, Big World'. If you have not heard of this show, it is a reality show, following the Roloff family. A family of two little people parents, and their 4 kids, 3 of which are average height. A must-see if I do say so myself. The family is very endearing and entertaining to watch.

Last night I wasn't even going to watch it, I assumed that it was a re-run, that nobody was airing new content this week. Thankfully somebody else in my family WAS watching it, so I caught it about 10 minutes into it. I read the description of the episode to see if it sounded familiar, and it said that the Roloff family were going to grieve the loss of a close friend, so i assumed it would be somebody who may have briefly been mentioned on a previous episode, but nobody that would effect me very much.

The episode started off normally, the family was getting ready for a housewarming party, and the dad, Matt's, business partner, Mike, was helping build a new arm for the family's trebuchet Mike had been on the show a lot before, and had been involved in an accent with the youngest son, Jacob, and the trebuchet a couple years before. He also stays with the kids a lot when Matt, and his wife, Amy go on trips. He coached the kids in soccer and help Matt with lots of projects around the Roloff Farm.

Mike hadn't been featured on the show in awhile, the main focus had been the remodel of the home, but when I started to notice that Mike was being quite heavily featured in the episode, I started to get scared. No sooner did I say, 'Mike better not be the one that died', Amy narrated about Mike's death. Mike had a tear in his aorta and didn't survive the operation. It was heart-retching... the family was heavily affected by the loss, and had to move forward with their house-warming party, which was only 2 days away. They held a memorial for Mike during their party.

The most shocking part for me as a viewer was how much more REAL it made the Roloff family seem. Even though in my head I know these are real people, living these real situations, they still seem like characters in a TV show. But I had to pull myself out of the show and think, 'This is a real guy, who really passed away, and is really, truly, and sorely missed'. I am glad he was a part of the Roloff family, so that I had a chance to 'meet' him. He seemed like a great guy, and my condolences go out to his friends and family.

Muhaha

Amanda here...

I have set up this blog, without letting Tricia know. Tricia is my friend (somedays ;) who WILL be my reviewing partner. She just doesn't know it yet! For a little more info on us, take a look at the sidebar and stay tuned as we fine tune the blog and start adding reviews!
